1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Jiamingyage / GreatName (operated by JiaMingYaGe Consulting Service, hereinafter "we", "us", or "the Service") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use our website, our WeChat Mini Program (operated under our WeChat overseas/international entity account), or related services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
This Policy is governed by, and shall be interpreted in accordance with, the laws of [British Columbia, Canada], subject to the additional rights granted to users in their respective jurisdictions under applicable data protection laws, including but not limited to: the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, Canada), and the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL, People's Republic of China).
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: email address, phone number (optional), name or pseudonym
- Service input data: family surname, child's date and time of birth, place of birth (optional, for solar-time correction), gender, taboo characters (family naming restrictions), naming preferences
- Payment information:
- International users: payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor, for cross-border credit/debit card transactions. Stripe processes your card details directly as the payment processor; we do not store complete card numbers.
- RMB (China) users: RMB payment is not collected within the Mini Program. RMB access is enabled offline by adding our customer-service WeChat (impm01); we do not process RMB card or bank details in-app.
- Communications: messages you send to our customer support, including via our customer-service WeChat (impm01)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, referring URLs
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent, click patterns, session timestamps
- Cookies and similar technologies: as described in Section 9
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication data from Single Sign-On providers (e.g., Google, Apple, WeChat) if you choose to sign in via such services
- Payment confirmation data from payment processors
2.3.1 WeChat Login (Mini Program)
If you use our WeChat Mini Program, you may sign in via WeChat login. In this process:
- We call WeChat's
wx.logininterface and exchange the resulting code viacode2sessionto obtain your OpenID (and, where available, your UnionID). These identifiers are used solely to create and authenticate your account. - We do not obtain your WeChat password, your WeChat friends/contacts list, or your WeChat chat records.
- WeChat/Tencent acts as the login platform; their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policy.
2.4 Special Note Regarding Minors' Data
The Service processes date and time of birth for newborns and minors as a core feature. This data is provided by the parent, guardian, or family member of the minor. By submitting such information, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
- You are the parent, legal guardian, or an authorized family member of the minor whose information you are submitting
- You have the legal authority to provide such information for processing
- You consent to such processing on behalf of the minor
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 16 (or applicable local minimum, such as 13 in the U.S. under COPPA). If we become aware that we have collected such information without proper parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Service provision: To generate naming reports based on your inputs, including bazi (Chinese astrology) analysis, character meaning analysis, and cultural references
- Account management: To create and maintain your account, authenticate access, and provide customer support
- Payment processing: To process payments and prevent fraud
- Service improvement: To analyze usage patterns, debug technical issues, and improve the quality of our algorithm and reports
- Communication: To send transactional emails (order confirmations, report ready notifications) and, with your consent, marketing communications
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms of Service
- Aggregated analytics: To create de-identified, aggregated datasets for product research and business analysis. Such aggregated data is no longer personal information and is not subject to this Policy.
Legal Bases (for users subject to GDPR):
- Contract performance: processing necessary to provide the Service you purchased
- Legitimate interests: service improvement, fraud prevention, security
- Consent: marketing communications, optional analytics cookies
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, and regulatory compliance
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

Service providers: With trusted third parties who help us operate the Service, such as cloud hosting and infrastructure, database and storage, payment processing, sign-in (including WeChat login for the Mini Program), email delivery, AI text-generation services, and privacy-respecting analytics. These providers are contractually bound to use your information only to provide services to us.

5. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including Canada, the United States, and other regions where our service providers operate. We implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, including:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the European Economic Area
- Adequacy decisions where applicable
- Equivalent protections for transfers from Canada under PIPEDA
- Separate consent for transfers from China under PIPL, as required
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for the following periods:
- Account data: As long as your account is active, plus 3 years after account closure for legal, tax, and audit purposes
- Naming reports: Retained in your account until you delete them, or 5 years after generation, whichever is longer (to enable repeat access by you)
- Payment records: 7 years for tax compliance
- Technical logs: 90 days
- Marketing communications data: Until you withdraw consent
- Aggregated/de-identified data: Indefinitely
After applicable retention periods, we will delete or anonymize your information.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Portability: Request your information in a structured, machine-readable format
- Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time
- Non-discrimination (CCPA): We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights

For EU/UK Residents (GDPR): You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
For China Residents (PIPL): You have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to refuse automated decision-making.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256 for sensitive fields)
- Access controls and authentication
- Regular security reviews
- Incident response procedures
However, no system is 100% secure. You acknowledge that you provide information at your own risk. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
9. Cookies and Tracking
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary: For authentication, session management, and security (cannot be disabled)

- May be reviewed manually by us for quality assurance

11. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for adult users who are submitting information about minors in their care. We do not knowingly allow direct registration or use by children under 16 (or 13 in the U.S.).
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information directly from a child, please contact us immediately at jiamingyage@gmail.com and we will delete such information.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via:

2.2 自动收集的信息

2.3.1 微信登录(小程序)
